Students are required to have a sponsor. Normally, it is the education institution that holds the required sponsor licence.
The applicants are required to be genuine students, must be at 16 years of age and pass the security clearance, unless they come from a low risk country. The maximum length of study is restricted in the UK. This category no longer leads to settlement in the UK.
There are specific requirements for postgraduate doctors or dentist on a recognised Foundation Programme.
